When you reach the Schiphol International Airport, there’s a Direct Rail Link connecting to Amsterdam Central Station. It is the most convenient way to get to the City proper. Trains would cost just 3.60 Euro for a single journey. Tickets are sold either in with help of the sales-person or be bought in a special ticket-box. There are some options to get to the city, the Airport Shuttles, limousines and taxis.

Bicycling is their most preferred Dutch way to travel, and according to some individuals it is the best way to explore the City. The recent audit reveals that bicycle is their primary means of transportation, and ten percent said it was their secondary mode. Amsterdam has excellent public transportations, like bus, taxi, canal boats and buses, ferry, water bike and some other preferences.

The best means in getting around Central Amsterdam is by 16 TRAM Lines. Taking a tram is highly recommended since parking area is scarce and streets are narrow. Waterland is between 15 - 20 kilometers away from Amsterdam and the cheap way to get there is by the Bus. Buses are also most suitable for travelling from the Central Station to the neighboring places or towards North of Amsterdam. You may show your ticket to the driver as you board in the front of the bus. If you still don’t have a ticket, you may buy one from the driver. Taxis around Amsterdam can be very expensive, but if taxi is your best transportation preference, it is best to book a taxi well advanced as it saves your money a lot.

Having a tour in Amsterdam canals is best valued by some tourists, as it is relaxing and as evening falls, the lights from the houses, buildings and bridges makes the place romantic. The best option to see the whole city is by travelling by Boat through the canals. One may choose the canal "bus" with hop-on/hop- off service or the standard tours. On both options, they have tourist guide telling everything he knows about the town.
